This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

the inside was poorly designed. there isnt enough leg room on a long trip. not enough places to put glasses and things. I feel closed in the jeep should be wider. Other than that I love my jeep

Reliability on this vehicle has been a nightmare; for this I should have purchased a used car. It is now on its FORTH battery with 8198 miles on it. To date they have not been able to figure out what the problem is. I would NOT purchase this car again new. Also, the inside lacks nooks to store things up front.

First in buying my Jeep, I used the Internet to do my leg work before I even went to any dealerships. Between Edmunds.com, cardirect.com, etc... I had 14 quotes. Once I had a good feel for the price I wanted to pay, I lined up test drives not only to check out the vehicle but to check out the dealerships. Some rate better than others. I spent little time in the dealership when I purchased my Jeep. Im very happy with it!

The 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado is an excellent vehicle. I previously had a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado and traded it for the 2004 model. It is a very dependable vehicle.

Our 3rd GC a Christmas present. At 200 miles the "check engine" light came on.It was fixed. Every 200 miles after that it came on also, after 1,000 miles Chrysler is buying back to SUV. Faulty software in this model when fuel tank is 1/2 full and going up steep hills!

Purchsed my Grand Cherokee Limited with 4.7L V8 and Upcountry suspension a couple months ago after owning a Liberty for two years. So far I am quite pleased. My needs are for a vehicle that can be both a daily driver and take me off the beaten path for camping, skiing and fishing, and the GC fits the bill. Since owning it Ive driven almost 400 miles offroad, along mountain and desert trails to some very remote sites. Ive had no problems whatsoever (other than a few scrapes on the skd plates). Fit, finish, ergonomics are all quite good.

This is the best car I ever owned! The editors just dont know their stuff. Look at what owners say. The car ls beautiful, and its all wheel all-time drive is fantastic. It even saved my life once when I was forced offtheroad by a crazy driver. The only thing I would urge is for the Mfgr. to give a bit more seat room and lengthen the range of control over the seats.

We purchased this jeep in April 2004 and immediately took a 12 hour trip to Florida with 4 adults and completely loaded with luggage and other items. Everyone was completely comfortable on the trip and had plenty of room. It drove like a cadillac only set up higher.
